Pakistan Reaffirms Ceasefire Commitment as Sharif Hails Military’s Role

Late Saturday, Pakistan’s foreign ministry reiterated the country’s strong commitment to upholding the ceasefire agreement with India, even as both nations traded accusations of violations. The statement aimed to assure the public and international community of Pakistan’s dedication to peace.

The foreign ministry mentioned that Indian forces had reportedly breached the ceasefire in certain areas, although no specific incidents were detailed. Pakistan responded by emphasizing that its armed forces acted with “responsibility and restraint,” underscoring their professional conduct in the face of potential conflict.

Pakistan called for a diplomatic resolution to any issues arising from the ceasefire. The ministry urged that communication between both countries’ leadership be maintained at the highest levels, while also encouraging troops to exercise caution to prevent further escalation on the ground.

In a televised address on Saturday night, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the efforts of the Pakistani military. He declared that the armed forces had “made military history” through their handling of the situation, focusing on the military’s professionalism and dedication to protecting the country’s interests.

Sharif did not directly comment on the allegations from India or the reported explosions in Kashmir. Instead, he celebrated Pakistan’s military prowess, positioning it as a unifying force for national pride. His remarks were carefully crafted to avoid further inflaming tensions.

Sharif also thanked US President Donald Trump for his role in mediating the ceasefire talks, acknowledging his contribution in facilitating dialogue. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to leaders from China, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, Qatar, and the UK for their efforts in securing the ceasefire.

Ending his speech on a patriotic note, Sharif praised the armed forces for their bravery and dedication, calling them a source of “magnificent honor and pride” for Pakistan. His words reflected a message of unity, strength, and resolve in the face of ongoing challenges.
